Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 31 arrived for the official reception of heads of states at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit IN Tinjin, China. PM Modi was received by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan ahead of the official dinner.

This is the second meeting of the two leaders during the day. Both Modi and Xi met early in the morning to hold a bilateral discussion over several issues, including trade and border concerns.

PM Modi arrived in China for the first time in seven years and held an almost 40-minute long meeting with President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organsations’s (SCO) Summit in Tianjin on August 31.

During the meeting both sides pledged for a deeper cooperation amid the overhang of tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.

PM Modi, in a post on X, said he had a fruitful meeting with President Xi and reaffirmed commitment to mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity.
