Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj slammed Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday for allegedly letting her husband sit in an official meeting.

In a Hindi post on X, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj shared images of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, accompanied by her husband, presiding over a review meeting with officials on development projects in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency.

He pointed out that Gupta had allowed her husband to sit in the official meeting, drawing a parallel with the ‘pradhanpati’ character played by Raghubir Yadav in the popular web series Panchayat, who informally occupied the role meant for his sarpanch wife, played by Neena Gupta.

Bhardwaj said that the photos are taken from the official Instagram account of the Delhi CM which are also photos posted on the official Instagram account of the CMO.

In a scathing attack on the Delhi CM, AAP leader termed the act "completely unconstitutional", adding, that the BJP needs to explain if the "CM of the world's largest party have no worker left whom she can trust" and "why is her husband being made a part of the government administrative system in this way?"

He said the BJP, which relentlessly criticises Congress for dynastic politics, should explain -- "is this not dynastic politics?"

He questioned the reasons behind the CM’s bid to establish her husband’s authority, asking what responsibilities exist that only a family member can carry out.

The AAP leader said the party had previously flagged that the CM's husband attends official meetings, conducts meetings with officials, and carries out inspections.

"In the nation’s capital, democracy and the constitutional system are being openly ridiculed," Bhardwaj said.

Sharing the photos of the meeting from her official account of Instagram which was also shared by the official CMO account, Gupta wrote in Hindi that the meeting instructed officials to regularly assess the progress of operations in the Shalimar Bhagh area and provide detailed status reports on the fixed deadline.

In the photos, Gupta's husband Manish Gupta can be seen sitting near her along with other officials.

The post said, "In the meeting, discussion took place on the progress of complete and pending projects, guidelines were given for solution to departmental issues related to land use."

"Harvesting points will be established in water-logging areas in Shalimar Bagh. The process of reviving markets and removing tilted or crooked trees will begin," the post said.

It further said, "continuous review of the work of public interest and timely completeness is our top priority."

Gupta is married to Shalimar Bagh businessman Manish Gupta. Her husband is a trader. As per Rekha Gupta’s poll affidavit, Manish Gupta’s firm is named Nikunj Enterprise. He is also associated in insurance business. As per the Economic Times, Manish Gupta is associated with Kotak Life Insurance.
