In an exclusive interview to Network 18 group, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence in a decisive mandate for the Bharatiya Janata Party led coalition in the ongoing parliamentary polls.

"People of this country are fighting the polls. The sloganeering, remarks, campaign speeches by the leaders will have no affect on the overall outcome of the elections. The electorate want a strong, decisive, stable and a visionary government. A government that reflects the aspirations of India.," observed Modi.

He added that a government that has an overwhelming mandate will be formed at the Centre. People are deciding the course of this election.

Before of the commencement of 2024 election process, PM Modi has often said that his ambition is not simply to form the government, but to make India the world’s third largest economy during his third term.

PM Modi has consistently maintained that the  slogan ‘Abki Baar, 400 Paar (This time, above 400)’ was not coined by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but by the public itself to bring back the current government.

The BJP has set a target for its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to win more than 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, aiming for 370-plus seats for the BJP alone.

The Prime Minister, has been consistent in his  take that a decisive mandate  was not simply about an ambition to form the government for the third time. BJP-led allies have entered the poll fray to make the nation the third largest economy in the world during the third term.
