After Defence Minister Rajnath Singh suggested that Sindh “may return to India”, the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday called his remarks “delusional and expansionist”.
“Pakistan strongly condemns the Indian Defence Minister’s delusional and dangerously revisionist remarks regarding Pakistan’s Sindh province,” it said. “Such statements reveal an expansionist Hindutva mindset that seeks to challenge established realities and stands in clear violation of international law, the inviolability of recognised borders, and the sovereignty of states,” read a statement by Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pakistan also urged Indian leaders to avoid rhetoric that could inflame tensions.
“We urge Mr Rajnath Singh and other Indian leaders to refrain from provocative rhetoric that threatens regional peace and stability. It would be far more constructive for the Government of India to focus on ensuring the security of its own citizens, particularly vulnerable minority communities,” the statement read.
After Partition in 1947, Sindh province, the area near the Indus River, went to Pakistan and the Sindhi people who lived in that region came to India.
What did Rajnath say?
Speaking at an event, Singh quoted former Home Minister LK Advani, who said that Sindhi Hindus of his generation had not been able to accept the separation of Sindh from India, as Hindus considered the Indus River sacred.
“Many Muslims in Sindh also believed that the water of the Indus was no less sacred than the Aab-e-Zamzam of Mecca. This is Advani’s quote. Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India," he said.
According to Singh, Sindhis had to start from scratch after the brutal Partition, but managed to establish new dimensions of success through their hard work and courage.
On September 22, Singh told the Indian community in Morocco that slogans are being raised in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for merging back with India and expressed confidence that the area illegally held by Pakistan will merge with India without taking any aggressive steps.
