Amid ongoing tensions with India, a post surfaced on X in which Islamabad appealed to international partners for “more loans”. However, the official X handle of Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting soon claimed that “the account was hacked.”

India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) took a dig at the Pakistani government over a recent post on X related to a loan request.
Using a snippet from the popular Bollywood film Golmaal, the government’s fact-check handle mocked Pakistan with the caption: Yeh koi tareeka hai bheek maangne ka? (Is this the way to beg?)
Economic Affairs Division, Government of Pakistan posted on their X account, "Govt of Pakistan appeals to International Partners for more loans after heavy losses inflected by enemy. Amid escalating war and stocks crash, we urge international partners to help de-escalate. Nation urged to remain steadfast."
Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including key bases of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
India also shot down over 50 Pakistani drones in a massive counter-drone operation and reportedly neutralised a Pakistani air defence system in Lahore during a failed missile and drone attack on Indian military sites on May 7–8.
The Indian Army repelled the overnight assault and responded to ceasefire violations along the LoC. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said India’s strikes were "precise and non-escalatory," aimed only at terror infrastructure. Pakistan’s retaliation led to civilian casualties in Poonch and other areas.
India also confirmed that it had targeted and neutralised Pakistani air defence systems, including one in Lahore, in a calibrated response matching Pakistan’s intensity.
