Pahalgam terror attack: Shivamogga businessman killed, says family; Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah sends team to J&K

Multiple tourists were reportedly killed, and at least 20 others sustained injuries when terrorists opened fire on the crowd enjoying the serene surroundings

A businessman from Karnataka’s Shivamogga was killed in Tuesday’s Pahalgam terror attack, his family told PTI. The man has been identified as one Manjunath Rao. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his condolences over Rao’s death and convened a meeting with top officials to discuss the incident. An official statement confirmed that a team from Karnataka has been dispatched to Kashmir.

In his post on X, the Chief Minister said that “Kannadigas were targeted by terrorists in Kashmir.” Siddaramaiah also said that the "Resident Commissioner of Delhi to take charge of the further action."

The attack, which took place in a scenic meadow near Pahalgam town, shattered the tranquility of a typical Tuesday afternoon. Multiple tourists were reportedly killed, and at least 20 others sustained injuries when terrorists opened fire on the crowd enjoying the serene surroundings.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is reaching Srinagar. He will chair a high-level security review. Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a stern warning for the perpetrators of the terror attack. "Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice...they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed," the Prime Minister said in his post on X.
