The Indian Army has launched a major counter-terrorism drive in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district under Operation Nagni TOP, busting a terror hideout and recovering a significant amount of weapons.

Based on specific input, a three-day joint search operation was launched by the Indian Army with the J&K police and BSF Kashmir in Kalaroos, Kupwara.

"During the search, a hideout was busted, which resulted in the recovery of one pistol, two magazines, twelve grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores," the Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

This operation comes under heightened security in J&K, coinciding with the anniversary of the abrogation of article 370.

Recently, a joint team of security forces neutralised one terrorist during an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the Akhal Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The encounter began late Friday after security personnel launched a search operation based on credible intelligence inputs indicating the presence of terrorists in the region.

The joint operation, involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Special Operations Group (SOG), led to a fierce gunfight that stretched through the night.
