Amid the growing online chatter around supposed radiation leak in and around Pakistan’s Kirana Hills following the Indian Air Force’s strikes, the International Atomic Energy Agency has rejected the leak buzz. According to aa report by The Indian Express, the nuclear watchdog has categorically denied any radiation leak from any of the nuclear facilities in Pakistan.
The response comes days after the Indian Air Force also said that it did not target Kirana Hills during the Operation Sindoor strikes. Kirana Hills is a strategic location where Pakistan supposedly houses its nuclear facilities.
The IE said that in a response to the query, the IAEA said that while it is aware of the online rumour and discussion around radiation in Pakistan, it can confirm based on the information it has that there is no radiation in Pakistan.
Ever since the precision strikes by India on the Pakistan airbases, the social media is abuzz with reports of radiation leaks from Kirana Hills. Add to this, several users claimed of American nuclear response plane landing in Pakistan. However, there has been no verified information regarding such claims. Pakistan has also remained silent on any kind of leaks from its nuclear facilities.
During a press briefing in New Delhi, Air Marshall AK Bharti when asked about Kirana Hills had said, “We have not hit Kirana Hills -- whatever is there. I did not brief about it in my briefing on Operation Sindoor yesterday.” Later, he also added, “Thank you for telling us Kirana Hills houses nuclear installations. We did not know it.”
