NICSI marks 30 years of digital governance excellence, eyes Mini Ratna status

The National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI) commemorated its 30th foundation day on August 29, showcasing remarkable growth and reinforcing its commitment to India's digital transformation journey.

During the event, Minister of State for Electronics & IT and Commerce & Industry Jitin Prasada emphasized the importance of inclusive technological advancement. He highlighted NICSI's role in developing innovative solutions like AI-MEDHA, underscoring the organization's capacity for continuous reinvention in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things.

Prasada said, "Technology is changing very fast and our focus should not be that, few can be benefited but bottom-up approach where people at the ground be also benefited. As we move towards an era of Artificial Intelligence to Blockchain to Internet of Things, NICSI has to continue to reinvent itself—focusing on innovation, capacity building, and sustainable solutions. NICSI has made products like AI-MEDHA which speak of innovative initiatives developed by NICSI."

At the event 10 ministries and 15 states were felicitated for their long term association with NICSI. The ministries which were felicitated included Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Department of Justice, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Finance, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Established in 1995 under the National Informatics Centre and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, NICSI has emerged as a cornerstone of the nation's e-governance infrastructure.

Revealing impressive financial milestones, Abhishek Singh, Chairman of NICSI, said, “NICSI is going strength to strength. In the last 10 years, NICSI has seen a compound annual growth rate of 13.17%, with 32% growth during 2024-25 and has achieved a turnover of Rs 3110 crores.”

NICSI continues expanding its technological portfolio with AI-as-a-Service offerings, cybersecurity platforms, and DPDP compliance services.
