Several Indian airlines have issued travel advisories for passengers as heavy rainfall lash Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Navi Mumbai and Raigad till 7 pm today (June 16), anticipating intense spell of rain, CNBC-TV18 reported.

Air India said that the heavy rainfall may impact some flight operations to and from Mumbai.

IndiGo advised passengers to check flight status before leaving for the airport, as waterlogging and low visibility are being reported on some routes to the airport.

SpiceJet said that all departures and arrivals from Mumbai airport are likely to be affected due to the bad weather conditions.

Notably, train services also have been impacted due to the deteriorating weather conditions and resulting water logging. According to a report, metro services on the Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova line were briefly disrupted in the afternoon after a plastic sheet fell onto the overhead wires at Azad Nagar station.
"The services are running normally now. Due to heavy winds, a plastic sheet from a nearby construction site flew onto the overhead electrical line near the Azad Nagar Metro station, disrupting train services," Mumbai Metro One shared on X.
