The monsoon session of Parliament will begin on July 21 and conclude on August 12, announced Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday.
The session, which will span 23 days, is expected to witness the introduction of key legislative bills, discussions on national security, the economy, and recent national developments such as Operation Sindoor.
The schedule was recommended by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, which met under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The announcement comes amid demands from opposition parties for a special session to discuss Operation Sindoor.
Rijiju confirmed the dates while addressing reporters in New Delhi.
When asked about the opposition’s request, Rijiju stated that all issues, including Operation Sindoor, can be taken up during the upcoming Monsoon Session under the existing parliamentary rules.
Rijiju confirmed that Operation Sindoor will be among the key issues discussed during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. The Parliamentary Affairs minister, as cited in a News18 report, stated that the government intends to ensure an inclusive and united parliamentary discussion.
“Every session is special, and we will discuss all issues, including Operation Sindoor,” he told News18. Rijiju also highlighted the government's outreach to the Opposition, adding, “We have approached the Opposition and are hopeful that everyone takes a united stand. The government wants everyone to be taken onboard.”
This will be the second session of Parliament in 2025.
The Budget Session, which began on January 31, concluded on April 4 with both Houses adjourned sine die.
