In his first public address after the Pahalgam incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday began addressing a rally in Bihar's Madhubani by paying homage to the 26 people who died in the dastardly terror attack. He also said the perpetrators will be punished in ways which will be "beyond their imagination".
PM Modi, along with other leaders, observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to the victims. "I urge everyone to observe silence for couple of minutes to pay homage to the family members whom we lost on April 22 in the Pahalgam terror attack," said PM Modi. He was addressing an event marking National Panchayati Raj Day.
"Today from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world, India will identify, track and punish every terrorist. We will pursue them to the end of the world. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure justice. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank every country and their leaders who have stood with us," said PM Modi. "Will pursue them (Pahalgam accused) to end of earth. India's spirit will never be broken by terrorism,"

He said the entire country is in shock over how the terrorists killed innocent civilians in Pahalgam. "The entire country is with those who have lost their loved ones in this attack. The government is trying its best to provide treatment to those who are injured," he said.
Following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that left 26 dead, the Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday announced strong measures against Pakistan. India's measures included the suspension of a key water-sharing Indus Waters Treaty and closure of the main land border crossing in Kashmir. The defence, naval, and air advisors at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi have also been declared persona non grata and directed to leave India within a week.
The Union government also called for an all-party meeting in Parliament on Thursday. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to chair the all-party meeting. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Singh have spoken to leaders of various parties on the issue.
