The Malviya Nagar constituency, one of the 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi, went to polls on February 5. The counting of votes is scheduled for February 8, according to the Election Commission of India.

The seat, part of the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency and located between Saket and Hauz Khas, witnessed a triangular contest between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress.

Malviya Nagar Assembly Constituency: Party-wise candidates

The seat is an AAP stronghold with its candidate Somnath Bharti winning the last three elections. Bharti won the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections with more than 50 percent of the vote share. In 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Bharti contested the polls for the seat once again. He was up against BJP’s Satish Upadhyay and Congress’ Jitendra Kumar Kochar.

Malviya Nagar Assembly Constituency: Demography

There were 1,52,442 voters in the Malviya Nagar constituency during the 2020 Delhi Assembly Elections. Out of this, 82,341 voters were male and 70,099 were female. 382 postal votes were cast in the constituency, according to Election Commission data.

In 2015, the total number of voters in the Malviya Nagar constituency was 1,39,987. Out of this, 76,604 voters were male and 63,370 were female. There were 466 postal votes in the constituency.

Malviya Nagar Assembly Constituency: Result date

The voting in Delhi took place in a single phase on February 5. The result for Malviya Nagar will be declared on February 8 (Saturday).

Malviya Nagar Constituency: 2020 and 2015 winners

In 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP candidate Somnath Bharti won the Malviya Nagar seat. He got 52,043 votes with a vote share of 57.97 percent. Bharti defeated BJP candidate Shailender Singh, who got 33,899 votes with a vote share of 37.76 percent.

In 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP candidate Somnath Bharti won the seat. He got polled 51,196 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Nandani Sharma, who got 35,299.

In 2013 elections, AAP candidate Somnath Bharti emerged victorious. He has won frm the seat for three consecutive terms.
