Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi passed away early on Friday morning. She was 100 years old at the time of death. She was admitted to Ahmedabad's UN Mehta Hospital after her health deteriorated. "A glorious century rests at the feet of God," PM Modi wrote on his official Twitter handle. -Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe also offered his condolences to prime minister Modi. Deeply saddened by the passing of the beloved mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My heartfelt condolences to Prime Minister Modi and the family in this hour of grief,he said in a statement.

-Offering his condolences to his Indian counterpart, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a tweet said, "There is no greater loss than losing one's mother. My condolences to Prime Minister @narendramodi on the passing away of his mother." Sri Lanka's former president Mahinda Rajapaksa also expressed his "heartfelt condolences" to Modi on the loss of his beloved mother.

-In a tweet, Nepal's former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also expressed his heartfelt condolences to Modi and his family "at the passing away of his venerable Mother. May her eternal soul attain Moksha".

-Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to carry on with his official engagements on a day he lost his mother drew praise from his ministerial colleagues and other BJP leaders who lauded his commitment and described him as a "karmayogi".

-After attending the last rites of his mother Heeraben, who passed away at an Ahmedabad hospital at 99, PM Modi went ahead with the launch of projects worth Rs 7,800 crore in West Bengal, throughvideo-conferencing instead of being in the eastern state physically as scheduled earlier.

-Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said at an event in Kerala that the prime minister told ministers to not cancel their scheduled programmes and return to Delhi only after completing their work. Home Minister Amit Shah also went ahead with his programme in Karnataka.

-Bollywood celebrity Akshay Kumar has also offered condolences after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben passed away. Kumar took to Twitter and wrote, “There is no greater sorrow than losing a mother. May god give you the strength to bear this sorrow @narendramodi ji. Om Shanti.”

-For the residents of Vrindavan Bungalows-2 Society in Raysan village of Gandhinagar, Hiraben was an epitome of simplicity, who always maintained a low profile despite being Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, news agency PTI reported.

-In a tweet, Soren stated “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji’s mother. A parent’s loss is irreplaceable & at this hour of grief, I express my sincere condolences. May her departed soul rest in peace. Conveying his sympathy and condolences in this hour of grief, former chief minister Raghubar Das said the Prime Minister, who lost his mother, discharged his responsibility as a son.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Friday offered his condolences to his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, on the passing of his mother Hiraben.
"PM Modi I would like to express my deepest condolences for the passing of your beloved mother. May her soul rest in peace,” Kishida tweeted.

-Actor Ajay Devgn has offered his condolences after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben passed away. He tweeted, “My heartfelt condolences on the passing of Smt. Heeraben Modi. A simple, principled lady, she raised a fine son in our PM Shri Narendra Modiji. Om Shanti. My personal condolences to our PM and his family.”

-Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday condoled the demise of Hiraben Modi, mother of Narendra Modi, on behalf of the people of the state and described her as the “guiding force” behind the Prime Minister. Recalling her as a “noble person”, Vijayan said he was deeply saddened to hear about her passing.

-PM Modi mourned the death of his mother in a series of tweets. "A glorious century rests at the feet of God... In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values," he wrote from his official twitter handle.
