Karnataka bike taxi row: After Rapido, Uber launches 'Bike Direct'

On August 25, Rapido was the first to resume bike taxi services in Karnataka under 'Bike Direct' after a gap of more than two months.

Close on the heels of Rapido rolling out 'Bike Direct', Uber on August 29 also resumed bike taxi services under the same option.

Moneycontrol found the 'Bike Direct' booking feature active on Uber’s app and accepting rides.

Uber was not immediately available for comment. Ola, however, is yet to resume bike taxi services.

Rapido had relaunched its bike taxi services under 'Bike Direct' on August 25 after being off the road for over two months.

Meanwhile, Karnataka High Court on August 22 clarified that it had not passed any order permitting bike taxi aggregators to operate, and that the state was free to act, provided bike owners were not harassed.
