A horrific accident took place on Indore’s Airport Road area on Monday after an out-of-control truck ploughed through multiple vehicles in Shikshak Nagar. The speeding vehicle rammed into several two-wheelers and cars, leaving a trail of destruction.
At least two people have been confirmed dead and nine people were injured. Many of the critically hurt have been rushed to nearby hospitals, with officials warning that the toll could rise.
DCP Zone-1 Krishna Lalchandani said, "The driver was highly inebriated and lost control of the vehicle, which led to this accident. A bike also came under its grip and was dragged along. So far, two people have died. Nine people are injured, including three who are seriously injured. Prima facie, it seems that the front part of the truck caught fire after the bike came under it. The truck driver is in police custody and has been sent for medical examination..."

Rescue teams, police personnel, and firefighters rushed to the spot. Flames engulfed the truck before being brought under control, but the scene left the entire locality stunned.

According to police, the truck driver was heavily intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has since been arrested, and preliminary investigations confirm alcohol influence.
Crowds gathered at the accident site and at hospitals and raised slogans against the police and administration.Protesters alleged that heavy commercial vehicles are not permitted on the busy road and questioned how the truck entered the area despite the deployment of traffic police personnel at crucial road junctions. Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav visited a private hospital and met the injured.
