Amid the ongoing flight chaos, the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, on Saturday said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has set up a four-member committee to examine the large-scale operational disruptions that have crippled IndiGo Airlines over the past week.

The panel will review gaps in crew planning, operational preparedness and compliance with the revised Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) norms. The aim is to prevent a repeat of the severe disruptions that have left passengers stranded across major airports.

In a post on X, Mohol said, “DGCA has constituted a four-member committee to review the factors behind the recent large-scale operational disruptions in IndiGo Airlines. The committee will assess gaps in crew planning, operational preparedness and compliance with revised FDTL norms to prevent such incidents in the future.” He added that the ministry is taking “every possible action” to ensure smoother travel for flyers.

Despite the government’s intervention, cancellations continued through Saturday. Over 100 IndiGo flights were scrapped nationwide, affecting operations in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

Hyderabad Airport recorded 69 planned cancellations, including 26 arrivals and 43 departures. Delhi Airport saw 86 cancellations for the day, while Ahmedabad reported 59 disruptions. Kolkata Airport also faced a heavy impact, with 21 arrivals and 20 departures cancelled.

The persistent disruptions have left thousands of passengers grappling with uncertainty, long queues and limited assistance, underscoring the deep operational strain facing India’s largest airline.
