All seems calm now, as border states, on Sunday, witnessed the first peaceful night since May 7, after nearly 100 hours of one of the most intense and deadliest episodes of cross-border tension in decades between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, around noon today, the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan are slated to hold crucial talks, marking the first official military engagement since the dramatic escalation of hostilities last week.
The talks between India’s Lt Gen Rajeev Ghai and Pakistan’s Maj Gen Kashif Chaudhry will reportedly focus on solidifying the ceasefire understanding reached on the evening of May 10, following four days of intense cross-border aggression involving drone strikes, missile launches, and artillery fire.

The Indian DGMO plays a crucial role in coordinating military responses, overseeing operational readiness, and ensuring the strategic deployment of forces in combat, counter-insurgency, and peacekeeping operations. He is responsible for formulating military strategies across these domains while maintaining force readiness and ensuring the efficient deployment of troops and resources.
Tensions between the two countries flared up quickly after the Indian armed forces' precision airstrikes targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistani territory on the night of May 7.
Pakistan, in retaliation, attempted to strike back by targeting military installations and civilian areas along India’s northern and western frontiers.
India has, however, claimed to have repelled these attacks with what it called a “befitting reply”.
After nearly four days of escalating cross-border tensions, New Delhi, on Saturday evening, announced that India and Pakistan have mutually agreed to halt all military operations across land, air, and sea following high-level talks between their DGMOs.
Top government sources have confirmed that the breakthrough came through direct and focused military communication.
Foreign Minister Vikram Misri, during a joint press meet the same evening, had noted that the agreement was reached during a phone call initiated by Pakistan’s DGMO at 3:35 pm.
The Pakistani side initiated the contact, and after a detailed exchange, both nations agreed to de-escalate the situation that had sharply deteriorated over the past few days due to airstrikes, missile exchanges, and cross-border attacks.
