The Odisha unit of the Congress on Wednesday offered to support the principal opposition party -- the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) -- if it brings a no-confidence motion against the state's BJP government in the wake of the recent rapes and other crimes against women.
The BJD said its legislature party would take a final decision in this regard before the upcoming assembly session.

India News Live: Union minister Nitin Gadkari to receive this year's Lokmanya Tilak National Award
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will be conferred with this year's Lokmanya Tilak National Award, it was announced on Wednesday.
The award was instituted by the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak Trust in 1983.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi had received the award in 2023, the last year's recipient was writer and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty.
The award ceremony will be held on August 1 to mark the 105th death anniversary of Tilak, an iconic leader of the freedom movement, trust president Dr Rohit Tilak said at a press conference here.
