As the INDIA bloc and NDA alliance fight a closely pitched contest, and interesting trend has emerged in Muslim significant (with more than 20 per cent presence) seats. Out of a total of 103 seats, the INDIA alliance is leading on 52 seats, whereas NDA block is leading on 47 seats.
To put things in context, for the INDIA bloc, it is an increase of 14 seats, whereas the numbers mark a decrease of nine seats for NDA alliance.
BJP is leading on 244 seats and NDA stands at 295 while the INDIA bloc has clocked an impressive tally of 231. Others are leading on 19 seats. What may make the going tough for BJP are its allies JDU and TDP which are leading on 15 and 16 seats respectively. In case they put some conditions or decide to walk out of the NDA, BJP will be forced to sit in the Opposition.
Uttar Pradesh has been a real gamechanger. A big push to the BJP tally in 2014 and 2019 had come from this state which has a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats. In 2014, BJP had won 71 seats and two were bagged by its ally Apna Dal while in 2019 BJP had won 62 seats and Apna Dal retained its two seats.
