Rohini Acharya, who recently declared on X that she was stepping away from politics and “disowning” her family, landed in Patna on Saturday and levelled sharp accusations against senior figures within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Rohini claimed that influential members of the party were responsible for her estrangement.
“I don't have a family. You should go and ask Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez. They are the ones who threw me out of the family,” she said.
She went on to allege that raising questions about the party’s performance had led to retaliation. “They do not want to take any responsibility… The whole nation is asking why the party failed like this. When you take the names of Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, you are thrown out of the house, disgraced, and abused." A video of her speaking was shared by news agency ANI.

"I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family. This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do. I’m taking all the blame," Rohini said in an X post earlier today.
Acharya, a doctor and former RJD leader, had earlier contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Bihar’s Saran constituency but was defeated by the BJP’s Rajeev Pratap Rudy.
In the run-up to the Bihar elections, she was reportedly displeased with the growing clout of Sanjay Yadav, political adviser to Tejashwi Yadav, and his increasing influence within the party, as well as his proximity to the former Deputy Chief Minister.
Her latest comments have once again brought attention to the deepening divisions within the Yadav family. Earlier this year, former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad expelled his eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from both the RJD and the family for a period of six years.
Acharya, who had made headlines in the past for donating a kidney to her father, had also contested the previous Lok Sabha election from Saran but failed to win.
There had been speculation that she was “unhappy” over Tej Pratap Yadav’s expulsion. Yet, during the assembly campaign, she was seen publicly supporting Tejashwi Yadav.
