Boeing, the aviation giant, is back in crisis mode. Years after the 737 Max crashes rocked the company, the Dreamliner 787 tragedy in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad has once again put a big question mark on the planemaker’s safety record. While a massive multinational probe will reveal the exact cause of the crash, the dominance of Boeing in Indian skies cannot be overlooked. The majority of airlines in India have Boeings in their fleets.
Indian carriers are currently flying a total of 209 Boeing aircraft, comprising various models such as the 737 MAX, 777, and 787 Dreamliner, according to data from NDTV Profit.
The data includes grounded aircraft but excludes damp/wet-leased aircraft. IndiGo’s Boeing fleet is leased from Qatar Airways and Corendon.
