The Israel’s Ministry of Defence's director general Major General (Res) Amir Baram spoke with Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Thursday and extended Israel’s full support to India’s "rightful fight against terrorism" while lauding the "success of Operation Sindoor”.

As per the official communication, both India and Israel reaffirmed their commitment to "deepen bilateral" defence ties and discussed a "future road map" to further strengthen strategic cooperation, it said.

The Indian Ministry of Defence shared the information in a post on X, and wrote: "DG, Israel Ministry of Defence Maj Gen (Res) Amir Baram today spoke with Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, extending Israel’s full support to India’s rightful fight against terrorism while lauding the success of Operation Sindoor. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral defence ties and discussed a future roadmap to further strengthen strategic cooperation."

On May 7, after the Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan under Operation Sindoor, Ambassador of Israel to India, Reuven Azar, in a post on X, said, "Israel supports India’s right for self defense. Terrorists should know there’s no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent. #OperationSindoor”.

India launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where Pakistani terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba's offshoot The Resistance Front (TRF) killed 26 innocent people in the Kashmir town.

Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10, but its attempts were strongly responded to by the Indian side.

The Indian military targeted eight Pakistani air bases with missiles and other long-range weapons on May 10 in retaliation for Pakistan's attempts to strike military facilities. Following this, India and Pakistan announced reaching an understanding to stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea, with effect from 5 pm on Saturday, 10 May.

On Monday, in his first address to the nation after Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Operation Sindoor has carved out a new benchmark in India's fight against terrorism, and set up a new parameter and a new normal. "Indian armed forces executed precise strikes on terrorist hideouts and training centres in Pakistan, delivering a decisive blow," he had said.
