From the deck of INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh warned Pakistan of unthinkable consequences in case it crosses the line. Singh, who visited INS Vikrant stationed in Goa, met the Indian Navy personnel deployed there.
Addressing the heroes of Operation Sindoor, Singh lauded their valour and also spelled out the future escalation matrix India may adopt should there be any misstep by Pakistan. “Agli baar, opening humari Navy karegi (next time, the opening strike will be carried out by the Indian Navy),” Singh was quoted as saying.

So far, India has seen mobilisation of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force in the event of any military conflict. But the future course of events may involve a first strike by the Indian Navy, Singh hinted. The response comes days after a senior Navy official said that at the height of the India-Pakistan conflict, Karachi was also among the ‘target options.’
Singh said that this time around, the Indian Navy was serving the nation ‘silently’. The Indian Navy has carried out several drills in the Arabian Sea during the military standoff.
