Encounter breaks out between security forces and terrorists in Kishtwar, operation underway

An encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Sunday afternoon after security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in the region.

According to the Army, alert troops of the White Knight Corps established contact with terrorists around 1 pm in the general area of Kishtwar. Following this, a heavy exchange of fire took place between the two sides.

"Alert troops of #WhiteKnightCorps at around 1 pm today, while carrying out an intelligence based operation in general area of Kishtwar have established contact with terrorists. Fire exchanged with terrorists. Operation is in progress," White Knight Corps posted on X.

Security forces have cordoned off the area, and the operation is currently underway. Further details about the ongoing encounter are awaited.
