Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Thursday emphasized the growing role of technology in modern warfare and underscored India's commitment to self-reliance in defence. Referring to the recent anti-terror operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor, he described it as a “very professionally conducted” mission that highlights the direction India is taking in its strategic capabilities.
During his address at a CII event, the Air Chief Marshal invoked Bollywood flair to drive home a serious message. Paraphrasing a popular Salman Khan dialogue, he said, “Ek baar jo humne commitment kar diya, to fir hum apne aap ki bhi nahi sunte”—once we make a commitment, we don't go back on it. The remark, laced with humour, was a rebuke for the PSUs over missed deadlines.

Stressing the importance of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, Singh called for deeper trust between the armed forces and the domestic defence industry. “We are doing our best to maximise the use of Make-in-India products,” he stated.
He also pointed to the shifting global landscape as a wake-up call for India’s defence preparedness. “The current world scenario has reminded us of the need to become self-reliant. National interest comes first, and we must work together to make this nation great,” he said.
On technological advancements, Singh remarked that innovations are rapidly transforming warfare. “Operation Sindoor has given us a clear indication of our direction and the capabilities we must build for the future,” he concluded.
