Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi has drawn criticism from farmer leaders who are questioning his commitment to their cause. Dosanjh met PM Modi on January 1, and described the meeting as a "fantastic start" to the New Year. PM Modi too called the actor "truly multifaceted".

Farmer leaders slammed the singer and said his actions contradicted his earlier support for the farmers' protests.

A farmer leader at the Shambu border told media that if Diljit truly cared about farmers, he would have come and backed them in solidarity with Jagjit Dallewal, instead of meeting PM Narendra Modi. He also said the meeting raises doubts about the singer’s intentions.

Diljit had joined the farmers' protest at the Singhu border in 2020, appealing to the Centre to fulfil the demands of the protesters.

“A fantastic start to 2025. A very memorable meeting with PM @narendramodi Ji. We talked about a lot of things including music of course!" he shared. Diljit presented the Prime Minister with a poster of his Dil-Luminati tour of India.

Responding to his post, PM Modi shared, “A great interaction with Diljit Dosanjh! He’s truly multifaceted, blending talent and tradition. We connected over music, culture and more."
