Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday raised multiple questions regarding the Pahalgam attack in the Lok Sabha.
The series of questions raised by the Congress MP were as follows:
“Why was there not even a single security personnel present at Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam?”
“Is the safety and security of citizens not the responsibility of the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister?”
“Yesterday, the Defence Minister spoke about terrorism, protecting the country, etc. But one thing was left out — how did this attack happen?”
“The Indian government declared TRF a terrorist organisation in 2023. Why wasn’t any action taken? Did the IB chief resign? Did anyone resign? The Intelligence Bureau comes under the Home Ministry — did Amit Shah resign?”
The Wayanad MP further slammed the government, accusing it of constantly evading accountability.
“This government always tries to escape questions. They have no sense of accountability towards the citizens of the nation. The truth is, they have no place for the public in their hearts. For them, everything is about politics and publicity,” she said.
She also criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for failing to answer why a ceasefire was announced.
“The Union Home Minister today spoke about what Nehru and Indira Gandhi did. He even went on to talk about my mother’s tears. But he never answered why the ceasefire was announced,” she said.
She further alleged that the ceasefire announcement by the US President reflects irresponsibility on the part of our Prime Minister.
“This shows the irresponsibility of our Prime Minister. For the first time in our country’s history, a war is halted, not by our government or Army, but by the US President,” Gandhi said.
