Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has promised that all schools that do not follow the rules and regulations for hiking their fee and indulge in abnormal fee hikes will be taken action against. This came after some parents informed Gupta of the harassment by Queen Mary School in the national capital's Model Town area, after they objected to the fee hike by the school.
The Chief Minister has said that the schools cannot hike their fee without taking into consideration the rules and regulations set by the government and all the schools that indulge in fraudulent activities will have to suffer the consequences.
"There are rules and regulations (for fee hikes) that must be followed. If any school is found indulging in all these, it will have to suffer. We will issue notices to all schools we have received complaints about," Gupta said.

She further spoke about the state government's stance towards protecting each child as part of the education sector. While speaking about the issue, Gupta said, "Any form of injustice, exploitation and irregularity will be tackled with a zero tolerance policy. Our pledge is clear -- every child should get justice, respect and quality education."
The Chief Minister's stance against the illegal school fee hike comes after the Aam Aadmi Party alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party had links with the Action Committee of Unaided Private Schools - a body that had earlier contested AAP's stance against illegal fee hikes.
However, BJP has pushed back, saying that AAP has been trying to push a false narrative. "There are more than 1,650 private schools in Delhi, but the Arvind Kejriwal government managed to audit the accounts of only 75 schools in a year. Taking advantage of this, almost all private schools have been raising fees substantially," Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said.
