Delhi assembly speaker Vijender Gupta on Tuesday suspended a dozen MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including former chief minister Atishi, for disrupting the speech by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena by raising slogans.
Atishi, Gopal Rai, Veer Singh Dhingan, Mukesh Ahlawat, Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed, Anil Jha, Vishesh Ravi and Jarnail Singh were among the AAP MLAs marshalled out of the assembly.
Speaking to reporters outside the assembly, Atishi alleged that BJP had disrespected BR Ambedkar by removing his portrait from the chief minister's office in both the Delhi Secretariat and the assembly.
"They replaced BR Ambedkar's portrait with that of PM Modi in CM's office and other places. I want to ask the chief minister, do you think PM Modi is bigger than BR Ambedkar? AAP opposed this in the assembly. We will protest against this, be it in assembly or the streets," she said.
Meanwhile, L-G Saxena, in his address, said, "My government will adopt 'Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra' as document for policy guidance and fulfil all promises made to people."
He further said, "Corruption-free governance, women empowerment, clean Delhi, rejuvenation of Yamuna, and clean drinking water will be the focus areas of the government." The L-G went on to add, "Continuous clashes and blame game in the past 10 years have hurt Delhi; my government will work in coordination with Centre, other states."
Notably, out of the 14 pending CAG reports, one on the now-withdrawn Delhi liquor policy is expected to be presented in the Assembly on Tuesday.
The BJP government will table some of the 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports in the House. The CAG audit reports pertain to key issues of Delhi – prevention and mitigation of vehicular air pollution in Delhi, the regulation and supply of liquor in Delhi between the period 2017-18 to 2021-22 when the liquor scam took place in Delhi, the Sheesh Mahal-CM house issue, the audit of public health infrastructure and health services, and the working of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
