As per ECI data as of 4 pm, BJP has crossed the halfway mark, in a major setback to AAP.

Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leader Manish Sisodia have conceded defeat from New Delhi and Jangpura constituencies respectively. Atishi won from Kalkaji seat.

PM Modi reacted to the results and said the victory is attributed to development and good governance.

Reacting to the mandate, the Prime Minister tweeted: "We guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned to ensure the all-round development of Delhi and to make the lives of its people better. Along with this, we will also ensure that Delhi plays an important role in building a developed India.  My salute and congratulations to all my brothers and sisters of Delhi for giving a historic victory to @BJP4India ! I am very grateful to all of you from the bottom of my heart for the abundant blessings and love you have given."

Arvind Kejriwal accepted people's mandate.

"…We did not come into politics for power; we see politics as a medium to serve the people, and we will continue to do so. I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to all AAP workers who worked tirelessly and fought a remarkable election,” Kejriwal in a video posted on X.

Counting of votes for Delhi's 70 assembly constituencies began amid tight security at 19 locations.

Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Alice Vaz said 5,000 personnel, including counting supervisors and assistants, micro-observers, and support staff trained for the process, had been deployed for the exercise.

BJP said people of Delhi will take revenge from AAP's Arvind Kejriwal. "It is our promise to the people of Delhi that we will write a new history in Delhi... After losing the elections, Arvind Kejriwal will level accusations on EVMs and the Election Commission," said BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal.

AAP, on the other hand, is confident of a comfortable victory. ""This time the fight was not against any one party but the whole system...We are hopeful as the public has supported the Aam Aadmi Party and we will form the government with a comfortable majority," said AAP's Anurag Dhanda.

AAP cemented its stronghold in Delhi politics by sweeping the 2015 assembly elections, securing 67 out of 70 seats and leaving both the BJP and Congress in the dust. The party continued its dominance in the last election held in the Capital, winning 62 seats and once again sidelining the opposition.

The Congress, which governed Delhi from 1998 to 2013, is looking to stage a comeback after failing to win a single seat in the previous two elections.
