Delhi Police on Monday stated that they have arrested five “illegal immigrants" from Bangladesh and launched a probe.

“All of them are illegal immigrants. They tried to forcibly enter the Red Fort premises," the police said, according to a report by news agency ANI.

The age of all of the arrested individuals is around 20-25 years old, and they worked as labourers in the national capital.

According to officials, some Bangladeshi documents have been recovered from the arrested individuals and they are currently being questioned.

Earlier on Saturday, the Gurugram Police had detained ten Bangladeshi nationals who were found to be living illegally in the city, cops said.

Identification documents recovered from them confirmed that they were Bangladeshi nationals. Sandeep Kumar, PRO of Gurugram Police, said earlier, "Ten illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been detained. Bangladeshi documents have been recovered from them. The process to deport them has begun."

Seven Delhi Police personnel suspended

Seven Delhi Police officials, including constables and head constables, have reportedly been suspended after a dummy bomb went undetected in Red Fort during a security drill ahead of the Independence Day, cops said.

They were deployed for the security of the Red Fort and were dismissed due to negligence.

“A team of the Special Cell conducted a drill on Saturday in which they entered the Red Fort premises in civil dress with a dummy bomb. At that time, the policemen deployed for the security of the Red Fort could not trace the bomb, due to which they were reprimanded," the police added.
