All eyes will be on exit poll predictions to be released after the second phase of Bihar election

With the first phase of Bihar polls over and the second phase currently underway, all eyes are now on the exit poll predictions today as well as counting of votes, which will take place on November 14.

As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), exit polls can’t be released until the voting process is fully completed.

Several leading polling agencies and news channels published their predictions after voting concluded in three phases in the state. Many of the exit polls predicted that the Mahagathbandhan -- a coalition of the RJD and the Congress -- would form the government in Bihar.

Did exit poll predictions hold true in 2020? 

While majority of the exit polls had predicted that the grand alliance would outperform the ruling Nitish Kumar-led NDA, the results took everyone by surprise. The NDA won 125 seats in the 2020 Assembly polls (BJP-74, JDU-43, HAM-4, VIP-4), while the grand alliance secured 110 seats giving a tough fight (RJD-75, Congress-19, CPI-ML-12, CPI-2, CPM-2). RJD emerged as the single largest party in the state after getting 75 seats with a total vote share of 23.1 per cent.

When will Bihar exit polls be released?

The Bihar exit poll predictions will be released after the conclusion of voting for the second phase of Bihar Assembly polls. Therefore, the predictions will start coming in from around 6:30 pm onwards.
