The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the Justice John Michael D’Cunha judicial commission’s findings.

In a big development in Bengaluru stampede case, Karnataka government on Thursday gave its nod to initiate proceedings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and police officials for security lapses and negligence that led to the stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The cabinet, earlier today accepted the report of Justice Michael D Cunha Inquiry Commission regarding the tragedy that took place on June 4, a day after the IPL 2025 final-- in which Royal Challengers Benguluru emerged victorious.

The one-man inquiry commission constituted by the Karnataka government under retired High Court judge John Michael Cunha to inquire into the June 4 tragedy was tasked to identify the persons responsible for the omissions or deficiencies that led to this incident.

According to ANI, “A parent of the victim of the stampede that killed 11 persons near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 4th June, has filed a complaint in Commercial Street Police Station today regarding the theft of gold ornaments that were on the body of the victim when she was taken inside the post-mortem section for autopsy.”
