Delhi Police have busted a gang involved in the illegal immigration of Bangladeshi citizens and arrested 11 people, including five Bangladeshi nationals.
The accused facilitated Bangladeshi nationals to enter Indian territory through jungle routes and express trains using forged documents. They used fake Aadhaar, voter ID cards, and other documents created via a fake website, police said.
The Delhi Police are conducting a drive to identify illegal immigrants in the national capital and have seized several forged documents from their possession. "The accused aided Bangladeshi nationals by fabricating counterfeit Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and other forged documents through a fraudulent website," DCP (South), Ankit Chauhan, was quoted by news agency ANI.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor has directed the Chief Secretary and the Commissioner of Police to launch a two-month special drive to identify and take strict action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in the national capital.
According to Delhi Police sources, over 1,000 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been identified so far across the city, ANI reported.
The police operation involved door-to-door verification, scrutiny of documents, and interrogations. Special teams comprising local police and foreign cells were deployed to conduct targeted operations.
BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly aiding the illegal immigration of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas into Delhi.
In a post on X, Malviya wrote, "Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP is actively facilitating illegal immigration of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals in Delhi through a well-organized network. To divert attention from this anti-national operation, he falsely accused the BJP of canceling voter cards of Poorvanchalis. Now, both his tactics and lies have been thoroughly exposed."
