Two persons accused of inciting violence at Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, were shot at during an encounter on October 17 while trying to flee to Nepal, several national media outlets reported.

“As per my knowledge, five accused have been arrested. They were trying to flee... two of them sustained minor injuries during the encounter,” UP STF Chief Amitabh Yash told Times Now.

The two accused injured in the encounter have been identified as Sarfaraz and Faheem. Both of them sustained injuries in their legs and are sons of main accused Abdul Hameed who fired at Mishra, India Today reported.

They had reportedly incited violence in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich during a Durga Puja procession, which resulted in the killing of one 22-year-old Ram Gopal Mishra.

The report added that today’s encounter took place near the Nepal border at the Handa Basehri area of Bahraich.

Abdul Hameed’s daughter Rukhsar had expressed fear that her father and brothers would be killed in encounter. “We have not received any information about them from any police station, and we fear they may be killed in an encounter,” she had said.
