Only five women candidates, one from AAP and four from BJP, won in the Delhi Assembly polls this time, the lowest in a decade. The number went down from eight in the 2020 Delhi elections.
Outgoing Chief Minister Atishi, the only woman candidate from AAP who won, was among those five newly-elected women MLAs.
Of the total 699 candidates in the fray this time, 96 were women. Five years earlier, 672 candidates fought the Assembly polls and of them 76 were women. Eight women candidates had won in the 2020 Assembly polls.

The BJP's four women candidates -- Rekha Gupta from Shalimar Bagh, Poonam Sharma from Wazirpur, Neelam Pahelwan from Najafgarh, and Shikha Roy from Greater Kailash -- have emerged as victorious.
Out of the 96 women candidates, BJP and AAP had fielded nine each whereas the Congress had seven women candidates.
A look at women who won 2025 Delhi assembly polls
Atishi retained her Kalkaji seat, defeating the BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri by a margin of 3,521 votes. In 2020 polls, she defeated her BJP rival with more than 11,000 votes. Atishi is one of the few AAP stalwarts who won their seats as bigwigs Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain lost from their respective seats.
BJP's Rekha Gupta
Rekha Gupta secured 68,200 votes winning from Shalimar Bagh seat. Gupta defeated AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a margin of almost 30,000 votes. Notably, Kumari had defeated Gupta in 2020 and 2015 Delhi elections.
BJP's Poonam Sharma
Poonam Sharma secured 54,721 votes winning from the Wazirpur seat. Sharma defeated AAP's Rajesh Gupta by 11,425 votes. Gupta had won the seat in 2020 and 2015 Delhi elections.
BJP's Neelam Pahelwan
Neelam Pahelwan secured 10,1708 winning from Najafgarh seat. Pahelwan defeated AAP's Tarun Kumar, by nearly 30,000 votes. The seat was won by former AAP leader Kailash Gehlot in 2020 and 2015 Delhi elections.
BJP's Shikha Roy
Shikha Roy secured 49,594 votes winning the Greater Kailash seat. Roy defeated AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj with more than 3000 votes. The South Delhi seat was won by Bharadwaj in 2020 and 2015 Delhi elections.
The BJP made a historic return to Delhi after edging out the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its formidable chief Arvind Kejriwal, ending its long drought of 27 years.
