Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday said that Arvind Kejriwal will vacate the official residence of Delhi chief minister within a couple of days, adding that a new house has been finalised for him.
"Kejriwal will leave the official CM residence in next 1-2 days, as a house has been finalised for him and his family," the party said in a statement without disclosing location of the new accommodation.
Kejriwal had 15 days to vacate the official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow after resigning from the top post.
He resigned as the chief minister on September 17 and picked Delhi minister Atishi to be his successor.
AAP said that a house has been finalised in the New Delhi area for Kejriwal.
Sources said that Kejriwal, along with his family, will move to one of the two official bungalows allotted to the AAP Rajya Sabha members on Feroz Shah Road near Mandi House.
The two bungalows are just a few metres away to the AAP headquarters at Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane, they said.
Earlier, the former Delhi chief minister said that he would vacate the CM's residence during Navratri, which begins from Thursday.
AAP had asked the Central government to provide an official residence to Kejriwal as the chief of a national party.
During a press conference last month, AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said that one of the first things Kejriwal talked about after submitting his resignation was his decision to leave the official residence of the Delhi chief minister.
