Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, the Chairman of Al Falah Group, has been remanded to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for 13 days, until December 1st, by the court. He was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an alleged money laundering case involving the Al Falah Charitable Trust.
According to the probe agency, Siddiqui was arrested under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. His arrest followed a thorough investigation and the analysis of evidence collected during a search of premises related to the Al Falah Group. This inquiry is part of an ongoing probe into allegations of fraudulent accreditation claims by Al-Falah University in Faridabad, as reported by News18.
The central agency started the probe against the Al Falah group on the basis of 2 FIRs registered by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police, based on the allegations that the university made fraudulent and misleading claims of NAAC accreditation with an intention to deceive students, parents, and stakeholders.
Earlier on Monday, his younger brother, Hamood Ahmad Siddiqui (50), was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police from Hyderabad in connection with nearly 25-year-old fraud cases. A reward of Rs 10,000 had also been announced for his arrest.
