200-feet long wall collapses in Amer Fort

A 200-feet-long wall of the historic Amer Fort in Jaipur in Rajasthan collapsed on Saturday, amid heavy rainfall in the area, collapsed on Saturday, news agency Press Trust of India reported.

A video that was shared by PTI showed the portion of the wall that had collapsed due to incessant rainfall and how the massive section of the wall had caved in, with water flowing down the gaps. A huge pile of debris, into which the water was flowing due to the aftermath of rain, was seen at the site.

Amer Fort, which is also known as Amber Fort, is a majestic fort-palace located in Amer, a town about 11 kilometres from Jaipur in Rajasthan. This historical fort has been built with red sandstone and marble and is an outstanding example of Rajput architecture and is one of the most visited monuments in Rajasthan. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013 as part of the "Hill Forts of Rajasthan". Amer Fort is a fusion of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles.
