Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio show, "Mann Ki Baat," reached a significant milestone, marking its 10th anniversary on Sunday. Launched on October 3, 2014, this interactive program has garnered a remarkable following, with over 230 million regular listeners.

PM Modi, talking to his 'countrymen' on September 29, described the occasion as "emotional," highlighting how "Mann Ki Baat" has become a unique platform celebrating the spirit of India and the collective strength of its people.

In his latest episode, the Prime Minister, once again, highlighted the appeal of positive stories and inspiring developments, reflecting on the show's impact over the past decade. PM Modi also acknowledged the media's role in amplifying his message and noted that contrary to common beliefs, audiences are indeed interested in positive narratives.

"People like positive things, inspiring examples and encouraging stories," he noted. "There is generally a perception that people don't pay attention if the content is not spicy or negative. However, 'Mann Ki Baat' has shown that they are eager for positive information," he added.

He also urged citizens to support the "Make in India" initiative, which is also celebrating its 1oth anniversary, and called on them to purchase locally-made products during the upcoming festival season.

Additionally, PM Modi shared insights from his recent visit to the US, particularly the return of nearly 300 antiquities to India, underscoring the importance of heritage and national pride. Furthermore, he praised the success of the "Swachh Bharat" mission as a fitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, especially as it coincides with Gandhi's birth anniversary on October 2.

"On the 2nd of October, the Swachh Bharat Mission is completing 10 years. This is an occasion to commend those who turned it into a mass movement. It is also a befitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, who dedicated his entire life to this cause," he stated.

Mann ki Baat - A 10-year journey

Each episode of "Mann Ki Baat," which typically lasts around 30 minutes, begins with PM Modi's warm greeting, "Mere pyaare deshwaasiyon, Namaskar." The vintage-style show has enhanced his popularity, establishing him not only as the Prime Minister but also as a mentor, counselor, and friend to the nation. While PM Modi is recognised globally for his charismatic leadership and exceptional oratory skills, the show has solidified his connection with the masses back in the country, making him an omnipresent figure in their lives.

Beyond the airwaves, PM Modi takes on various roles, including yoga instructor, poet, tech enthusiast, wildlife photographer, and even a spiritual guide. His multifaceted persona resonates deeply with the public, with his party president recently dubbing him "the king of deities."

"Mann Ki Baat" exemplifies PM Modi's two key strengths - his deep understanding of India's grassroots, honed over decades, and his ability to tell compelling stories in the ever-transforming digital age. This enables him to effectively communicate government initiatives - ranging from free food programs to improved infrastructure -while ensuring that his messages reach a wide audience.

The program serves as a bridge connecting local, national, and global issues. PM Modi frequently discusses topics of basic government services, like water supply and sanitation, while also addressing the pressures faced by youth, particularly regarding educational stress in an increasingly competitive job market.

A unique feature of "Mann Ki Baat" is its interactive element - each month, the Prime Minister invites listeners to suggest topics through social media, where he boasts a combined following of around 300 million across various platforms.

During the pandemic, for example, PM Modi encouraged citizens to get vaccinated by inviting them to engage in community discussions about the vaccine's benefits.

This interactive format has allowed him to build rapport with listeners, offering advice on topics such as managing exam stress while acknowledging his humble educational background. Through this platform, PM Modi seeks to remain accessible to the citizens of India, adding a personal touch to the numerous changes impacting their lives.

Needless to say, PM Modi's communication approach seems to be effective, captivating the hearts of millions of Indians. A vast number of Indians have, to date, engaged with the Prime Minister's messages, resonating with his optimistic tone and feeling acknowledged by him.

At the heart of this story is Narendra Modi, the Man of the Hour, clad in his signature "Modi jacket," as he steps into his government bungalow and engages in heartfelt conversations with his "beloved countrymen."
