Maikhuri elected as deputy speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly

Dehradun, Dec 4 (PTI) Congress MLA from Karnprayag constituency Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri was today elected unopposed as deputy speaker of the Uttarakhand Assembly. The official announcement in this regard will be made by Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal tomorrow, assembly Principal Secretary D P Gairola said here. Maikhuri was elected unopposed as he was the only candidate in contention for the post after deadline for nomination expired today, Gairola said. Congress, which is leading the coalition government in the state with outside support, has 33 members in the 70-seat Uttarakhand Assembly, while the opposition BJP has 30 MLAs. PTI DPT KKM AGL AGL
