Priya Sachdev Kapur has stepped firmly into the corporate limelight even as a Rs 30,000 crore inheritance battle rages over Sunjay Kapur’s estate. As per a Times of India report, on Thursday, she made a high-profile appearance at a meeting of the Auto Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) in New Delhi, signalling her intent to safeguard and lead her late husband’s business interests.
On Thursday, Priya attended a key session of the Auto Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) in New Delhi as a special invitee. She participated in the meeting in her capacity as director of Aureus Investment (AIPL), the family office that holds the promoter stake in Sona Comstar. A source cited by TOI said she was invited by ACMA president Vikrampati Singhania to join the executive committee meeting.
Her presence was seen as a strong signal that she is representing Sunjay Kapur's corporate legacy. During the closed-door discussion, Priya reportedly told industry members she would be glad to take on any responsibility entrusted to her by the association.
This development comes amid a bitter inheritance dispute within the Kapur family following Sunjay's sudden death in June during a polo match in the UK. Priya's appointment as director of AIPL and Sona Comstar has previously been contested by Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur, and sister, Mandhira Kapur, who allege she has taken control of the family's wealth.
Meanwhile, Karisma Kapoor's two children with Sunjay have approached the Delhi High Court, claiming Priya attempted to manipulate their father's will. Acting as their guardian, Karisma has requested a fair division of assets, a full inventory of the estate, and a freeze on any transfers or sales.
On September 10, the court ordered Priya to provide details of all movable and immovable assets belonging to Sunjay as of June 12, the day of his passing.
