Bollywood actor and director Farhan Akhtar's company is all set to make a web series on the saga played out in a public spat between Housing.com founder and former CEO and Rahul Yadav and investors that eventually led to his ouster.
The web series will be created by Akhtar's Excel Entertainment for Amazon Prime in India, according to a report by The Times of India. It will also be the first Amazon Prime original production in India. According to the report, a senior former employee of Housing.com was contacted for inputs to develop the script.
Yadav is often referred to as the "bad boy" of Indian startups for his volatile temperament. The company had cited his behaviour towards the media, investors and the ecosystem as the reason for his ouster.
The board had also said that his behaviour was "not befitting of a CEO" and that it was "detrimental to the company".
In April 2015, he had resigned from the company only to be called back after an apology after he questioned investors' intelligence.
Yadav, an IIT-Bombay dropout, had also made controversial remarks about Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka, and founders of Ola and Zomato. He had announced distribution of his personal equity in the company to its employees.
Housing.com was called one of the most successful tech startups in 2012. Among its funding partners was SoftBank. The website also partnered Tata Housing and Tata Value Homes.
Earlier this month, Yadav joined Anarock Property Consultants as its chief technology and product officer.
