Edtech firm Byju’s is facing widespread service disruptions, with its Android app no longer available on the Google Play Store and its website reduced to a basic landing page, Moneycontrol has learnt. Users who already had the app installed are unable to access paid subscriptions or video content, while most SEO-optimised pages on the website have gone offline.
The disruption is due to pending payments to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which powers the company’s cloud infrastructure, as per sources.
“There have been payment delays to AWS, and some services have been paused as a result. App content, website functionality, and video delivery are currently down," a source said.
Even the Think & Learn Premium app — a separate offering from Byju’s that remains listed on the Play Store — is not functioning for users, with many reporting they are unable to access any learning content.
While the iOS version of the Byju’s app is still visible on the App Store, backend issues have rendered key features unusable across platforms.
Queries sent to Byju's and the resolution professional remained unanswered at the time of publication.
The company has been navigating mounting operational and financial pressure, including delayed investor funding, legal disputes, and auditor resignations. Byju's is now facing insolvency and the company is under the control of a resolution professional, appointed by NCLT.
It remains unclear how long the disruption will last or what steps the company is taking to resolve it.

This incident also coincides with founder and CEO Byju Raveendran's recent public efforts to revive the embattled edtech startup.
In multiple interviews and social media posts, Raveendran has outlined plans for "Byju’s 3.0," emphasizing a return to the company's core mission of supporting teachers and students, and introducing AI-powered personalized learning. He has acknowledged past missteps, including taking on significant debt, and has expressed a commitment to rebuilding the company.
Despite the challenges, Raveendran remains optimistic about the company's future, stating, "We don't belong in courtrooms. We belong in classrooms." He has also pledged to compensate students affected by past service disruptions.
