Amazon lures Indian SMEs via Launchpad program

The Launchpad program will aid the American retailer to onboard Indian SMEs which are developing innovative products on its marketplace.

Moneycontrol BureauIn order to aid its own marketplace and enhance the number of sellers in its ecosystem, world’s largest online retailer Amazon announced the launch of its global program – Amazon Launchpad in India on Monday.  This program will make it easy for Indian SMEs which make products such as tea, cosmetics, electronic hardware, apparel and food and beverages to launch faster via the American retailer’s Indian marketplace.   Jason Feldman, Director Global Innovations, at Amazon said, “Through this program small entrepreneurs and innovators can go leverage the Amazon platform to increase the scale of their businesses and even get easy access to global markets.”Currently, the new Amazon Launchpad store on Amazon India website features products ranging from wearable technology, foods, health monitoring devices, and educational toys etc.  Featured Indian Startups on Amazon’s website under this program are Witworks, Leaf Wearables, Ducere Technologies, Seventh Sense Technologies amongst others.  “By bringing Amazon Launchpad to India, we are excited to support the Government’s ‘Start-up India’ initiative,” said Amit Agarwal, VP and Country Head for Amazon India.
