SpiceJet, on Thursday, announced that it has signed an interline agreement with Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, to expand international and domestic connectivity for passengers.
As per the pact, SpiceJet flyers will be able to access Gulf Air’s extensive network across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Central Asiaweevia Bahrain, while Gulf Air customers will gain improved access to India through SpiceJet’s domestic routes.
Ticket sales under the agreement are anticipated to begin early next year.
Gulf Air currently operates direct flights to eight Indian cities -- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, hailed the collaboration as a milestone for the airline.
“This partnership with Gulf Air marks an important step in expanding our global reach and offering passengers more travel options. The interline agreement will seamlessly connect our passengers to Gulf Air’s global destinations, while bringing Gulf Air customers closer to the length and breadth of India,” he said.
Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, said the agreement reinforces Bahrain’s position as a strategic hub. “This partnership will provide travellers from both Gulf Air and SpiceJet with greater travel convenience, enhancing connectivity and cultural exchange between Bahrain, India and beyond,” he noted.
An interline agreement allows passengers to book connecting flights on multiple airlines under a single itinerary, simplifying connections and improving travel convenience.
