Sudarshan Sukhani of s2analytics.com told CNBC-TV18, "I am bearish on the market, so I am looking at going short in midcap stocks which are already weak starting with Kaveri Seed Company. A big rally has entered into distribution and lower levels have been coming consistently - that is a short."

"The second short is my earlier favourite Colgate Palmolive (India). This is a way in which technical can adapt. I was upbeat and bullish but the stock has now distributed. It has made a bearish head and shoulder. So we have to follow the charts. So Colgate is now a short sell."

"Cipla is another short sell. It has done nothing, fell, a small rally was a flag and upward bear flag and that is likely to break on the downside. So these are three short sells," he said.

"There are two buying ideas and buying should be done when some kind of stability comes into the market. One is Mahindra and Mahindra - that is likely to remain an outperformer and the other is DCB Bank. It's the preferred choice and today it has come in the buy list in the morning. So these are two buying ideas where you have to time the entries. I cannot say when and the shorts are easier to do."
