Maharashtra’s real estate regulator known as Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) on November 20 said that it has suspended the registration of 248 projects – including three government projects being constructed by Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).
The regulator has restricted their further sales, marketing or adverstising for failing to comply with regulations on uploading details online.
In February 2023, 700 projects were registered of which 248 projects were suspended over failing to comply uploading of quarterly progress report (QPR). The QPR's are uploaded by respective developers on the MahaRERA website in order to make details of the projects available to the homebuyers.
Government projects:According to the list issued by MHADA, out of the 248 projects, three projects are of the MHADA's Pune and Aurangabad board. Of these three projects, two are in Pune district and one in Beed district. A response from MHADA is awaited.
ALSO READ: 1,702 real-estate projects lapse in Maharashtra in 2023Overall, out of the total 248 projects, 99 projects are in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Konkan, 69 projects from western Maharashtra, and the rest from other parts of Maharashtra.
Similar action taken earlier:Similarly, MahaRERA had in September 2023, suspended registrations of projects registered in January 2023. Around 388 such projects had their registrations suspended. Further, those who do not comply the MahaRERA is in the process to deregister such projects.
Meanwhile according to MahaRERA, similarly for projects registered in March 2023, it has issued notices to 224 projects for non-compliance. Further, action will be taken against those projects who do not comply despite the notices.
