Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on November 6 urged Indian industry to ensure quicker transition to electric mobility.

Addressing an event marking the curtain raiser for the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, Goyal said, "for those of you who are still using petrol and diesel in your production cycles, I would hope to see a faster transition to electric mobility. We are not mandating anything, but we are encouraging faster transition and for scale in electric mobility, the moment we get scale, we will be able to cross the hump of cost effectiveness."

The minister also asked organisers to ensure more participation from international players at the expo.

"International players still have to participate in a bigger way. Lets quicky contact them and ask them to be a part of the global mobility expo," he said.

Goyal added that those international players from Germany, Japan and South Korea who are not producing electric vehicles in India should be encouraged to make in India.

The second edition of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo is scheduled to be held from 17-22 January, 2025 across several venues in Delhi and Greater Noida.
